Edward was a legend at work. Always the first to arrive, 5:30 AM every morning. I'll never forget when we had a flood, and Ed rolled up his trousers and waded in. Or when it was unbearably hot and he took the door of it's hinges for ventilation. Or when he was 80 and a 20 year old colleague asked: "Edward, why are you in such good shape at your age?" "It's very simple," Ed replied. "I never let anything stop me. Things might slow me down, but I never let them stop me." "I can't imagine anything stopping you," she said. "Well, I just had pneumonia, and that slowed me right down, and I could tell that my breathing was not the same. So I've joined the gym down the road, and I've been there for an hour every day, pedalling away on one of those bikes. Every day for the past month, and now I've got my breathing back." We just looked at each other, amazed. That's just what Ed was like. Inspirational.
