I am so sad to hear of Edward’s, or as I knew him ‘Uncle Ted’s’, passing. And I am so sorry for your loss.

I have such fond memories of growing up living next door to the Johnstons. They were a lovely fun family, we had such adventures together. Ted was always full of life with a project in mind…some of which I believe were never finished but they were amazing ideas. He always seemed cheerful and loved to engage in conversation, often about his many trips to Sweden. I still have a fantastic cheese slice, now probably 50 years old, brought back as a present. He was extremely kind and generous.

Ted obviously adored his family and always did his best for them. They were not the easiest of times, money was short for everyone, it seemed, but they were made wonderful by friends like the Johnstons.

I hadn’t seen Ted for so many years but in the recent photos he looks just as I remember him, just a little older. My memories of him and those times are clear and precious.

Rest in peace Ted, you will be so missed.

With love Jane.

Rest in peace.

Blind Veterans UK

A few years ago, Edward came across Blind Veterans UK.

A wonderful charity, often overlooked, providing support services and organising various events for blind veterans. Run by some really wonderful people.

As he was a veteran of the Royal Air Force, and registered blind, he joined up.

He 'thoroughly enjoyed' the meetings and dinners, and 'thoroughly looked forward' to the next one.

In lieu of flowers at his funeral, or if you'd like to make a donation in Edward's memory, you can find the donation page of their website here:
